Argenis Herrera, M.D., joins Miami Cancer Institute as a Thoracic Surgeon
MIAMI, FL – February 9, 2023 – Board-certified thoracic surgeon Argenis Herrera, M.D., joins Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health as a specialist in minimally invasive procedures, including robotic, laparoscopic, thoracoscopic and endoscopic surgery.
Dr. Herrera is passionate about providing patients with the best treatment plans possible, using the most advanced technology and methodologies available.

Before joining Miami Cancer Institute, Dr. Herrera served as the medical director of thoracic oncology and assistant professor in the department of surgery at the Oklahoma University Health Hospital.
His research has been published in the World Journal of Emergency Medicine, Thoracic Surgery Clinics, and the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
After earning his medical degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas, Venezuela, Dr. Herrera completed his general surgery residency at Saint Vincent Hospital and his cardiothoracic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He completed a one-year robotic thoracic surgery fellowship at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL.
