Miami Cancer Institute Welcomes Orthopedic Oncologist and Spine Surgeon, Theresa J.C. Pazionis, M.D., M.A., FRCSC
MIAMI, FLA. (April 3, 2018) — Theresa J.C. Pazionis, M.D., M.A., FRCSC, a double fellowship-trained oncologic orthopedist and spine surgeon, has joined Miami Cancer Institute at Baptist Health South Florida, the state’s only member of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Alliance. Dr. Pazionis specializes in the assessment and treatment of benign and malignant tumors of bone and soft tissue, spinal metastases and spinal deformities. She will continue the collaborative research work that she began during her two-year orthopedic oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, focusing on advancing the current understanding of cancer biology and exploring new ways to cure, control and prevent disease.
Dr. Pazionis received her medical degree as well as a master’s degree in economics from the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada. She completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at McMaster University, Hamilton Health Services in Ontario. In addition to her orthopedic oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, she completed a spine surgery fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City.

Prior to joining Miami Cancer Institute, Dr. Pazionis was a spine surgeon and orthopedic oncologist at New York Spine Institute, NYU Langone Medical Center and the Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York, N.Y. Dr. Pazionis has extensive teaching experience and currently serves as assistant clinical professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at New York University Langone Medical Center. She has authored book chapters and articles for numerous medical journals and presented her clinical findings at scientific conferences. She is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.
